17 day of my Camino in 2015. From Wrocław to Środa Śląska – 35km. I walked fast and mostly along an asphalt road. To fast, to long, to little rest. Last 2 km I could hardly move forward, due to problem with my right knee. But I made it.
Pictures from 16 day of my camino in 2015 from Poland to Santiago. Stage from Oleśnica to Wrocław – 28 km. Wrocław has more than 600 000 ppl. Quite a city. The day before I’ve called to many parishes trying to find a place to sleep. Some conversations were even funny. Me calling:”I’m doing a pilgrimage from my hometown Lublin to Santiago. Tomorrow I’ll walk through Wrocław. Could I stay at your parish? I can sleep on the floor” Answer: “No, we are sorry. Maybe you can come in next week”.
At the end I stayed in a convent of Sisters of Notre Dame. I got their private room. The conditions were excellent. You know… bed with white sheet. And all of this – donativo. I was lucky. I went to the cathedral – you can see it on a pictures. Then to supermarket, because it was Saturday, so I bought food for two days. And then I went to sleep, 16 days and 456 kilometers from my home.
15 day of my Camino in 2015. I’ve walked from Miłowice to Oleśnica, still in Poland. There are only three photographs below. Weather was good, sun was shining, my mood was excellent. But… in Oleśnica some things became very, extremely unpleasant for me. I just want to forget them. Remove them from my memory.
I ended up (I don’t know if its appropriate English word) in a small accommodation for construction workers. The old man was the owner and he asked me: “Does God wants you to walk such an enormous distance? So many months? How much will it cost for a places like here? Wouldn’t be better, if you spend all this time and money for people who need them?”
So I was left with that question.
14 day of my Camino from Poland to Santiago in 2015. That day I changed my route, because I heard that in Miłowice there is a priest who did Camino himself. On the leading picture you can see the entrance to a big forest. When I got out of it, I had two problems. My ankle was in pain, and my shoe become damaged.
Last 5 km I walked 3 hours. Luckily priest Jurek gave me a warm welcome. He did Camino 5 times! Every time different route! I learned from him a lot. He gave me a pilgrims shell and a solid mug. This shell I carried all the way to the Santiago. I slept half a meter from a (natural size) figure of Virgin Mary. And it was the best night I ever had. When I awoke I was healthy and ready to go, all pain and problems were gone
13 day of my Camino from Poland to Santiago in 2015. I’ve walked 29 km from Walichnowy to Kępno. I was tired. That time 30 km for me it was a challenge. I’ve made only 2 photos in that day, both in Wieruszów. I bought some canned food there, sat down in the center and ate. It tasted awful but was cheap 🙂
In Kępno I was welcomed on a catholic parish: “We welcome you dear priest”. I felt realy uncomfortable. Evidently there was some misunderstanding in phone call. But thankfully I explained everything and I got a warm welcome, for which I am still grateful.
Some pictures form 12 day of my Camino from Poland to Santiago. This time from Osjaków to Walichnowy – 32 km. Mainly through forests. Tough road. First good weather then rain. There are some views from Poland.
In Walichnowy I met an unusual priest. Why unusual? Because he had a sense of humor! Mother of the priest the old lady asked me several times if I do a penance through this pilgrimage. I assured her that it’s not the case. But I don’t know if I was convincing 🙂
I think that today ppl walking camino for little different reasons than thousand years ago. I walked to look for something and to thank God. I slept on the floor in a little room. As always, the dream came to me fast and easy.
11 day of my Camino from Poland to Santiago in 2015 I walked from Szczerców to Osjaków – 26 km. In the morning I bought in Szczerców half kg of bread and some yoghurt, I sat on the grass and I ate all of this. Then 5 min later a man came to me and asked if I would come to his house for a breakfast 🙂
In Osjaków I met wonderful priests. I stayed at parish for a night. I shaved for the first time in my pilgrimage cause I didn’t want ppl to be scared by my appearance 🙂 There is only a photo of the church in Osjaków. One from the inside, and a map.
I have walked for 11 days and I had more distance to the border of my country than I left behind my back. I just wanted one thing, and one thing only – to get to the destination of the current day. I didn’t thought about Santiago. Honestly saying I thought that it’s impossible for me to get there. So I was focused on one thing only – get things done in the present day.
